Bring a short piece of writing to share, and a short example of writing or media that you feel has somehow influenced you.

David Balzer is a writer, editor and teacher who lives in Toronto. He has written about art and culture for The Guardian, The Globe and Mail, Artforum, The Believer, The Walrus, Camera Austria and Modern Painters, has contributed to monographic publications on artists such as Michaël Borremans and Margaux Williamson, and has lectured at universities, colleges and museums internationally. In 2015, Balzer was named recipient of the International Award for Art Criticism. Balzer is the author of two books, a short-fiction collection called Contrivances(2012) and Curationism: How Curating Took Over the Art World and Everything Else (2014/15), winner of London ICA Bookshop's Book of the Year. He is currently BICI Arts Writer in Residency at the Banff Centre, and Editor-in-Chief and Co-Publisher of Canadian Art.
