From Opportunity to Internment

Dates & Times:

Thu Feb 13 | 7–8 pm

Join Ben Weistra for a discussion of Ukrainian immigration and settlement in western Canada before the First World War. This journey will include information on what attracted Ukrainians to Canada and what life looked like for Ukrainians who came to make a new life here. The second part of this talk will explore how this new life of opportunity was disrupted by the First World War and internment policies that were carried out against Ukrainians and other “enemy aliens.”
