Thu MAR 20 Secret Women’s Magazine Writer and historian Jenna Bailey tells the story of a group of British women who produced a secret magazine for over half a century starting in the 1930s. They formed lifelong friendships by corresponding about every aspect of their private lives.  Dr. Bailey will also explore how she combined archival research and oral history interviews to reveal the story in her bestselling book, Can Any Mother Help Me? (Faber and Faber).

            This topic is part of the Spring 2014 Speaker Series of the Centre for Oral History and Tradition at the University of Lethbridge.

Thu APR 10 How to Research Your House Have you ever wondered about the history of your home? The Archives can help you discover interesting facts about your place and the neighbourhood around it. You can find out the date the building was built, the original owner, photographs of the property and even maps of the vicinity from 100 years ago!

 

Includes access to the exhibit Arts of China: Glimpses of an Ancient Civilization, organized and circulated by the Royal Ontario Museum (closes MAY 19, 2014).
