Beginners Guide To Downtown: What Does Stage 1 Of The Reopening Mean.

Posted on : Thursday, June 03, 2021

Recently Alberta has entered stage 1 out of 3 of the provincial government’s Covid plan. With the new restrictions what does that mean for downtown Lethbridge? Stage 1 is the beginning process of slowly lifting the Covid-19 restrictions which is great for our local business’s. Part of stage 1 is allowing all wellness and personal services such as hair salons, spas, and tattoo shops to reopen but are only allowed to have customers in by appointment only.  For restaurants, coffee shops, and bars, patio services are allowed to be open again and have people come and sit outside. For retail shops they will be allowed to increase the capacity of customers in their stores up to 15%.  With social gatherings people in groups up to 10 are allowed with being socially distant, this is a great opportunity to walk around downtown and Galt gardens. With downtown parking it will return to being paid on June 7th to its original fees which in zones 2 and 3 it will be $1 for every hour. We will have to wait and see if Alberta will be entering the second stage of their plan in the next few weeks, until then enjoy the sun on many of the outdoor patios Lethbridge downtown has to offer!
