The 14th Annual Bright Lights Festival will kick off the holiday shopping season in downtown Lethbridge on Friday, November 21st. The evening’s activities will start shortly after the arrival of Santa at 6:30 p.m. in Galt Gardens Park. The Downtown Business Revitalization Zone (DBRZ) is excited to be partnering with the City of Lethbridge’s ‘Heart of Our City’ on this year’s celebration.

A variety of Classic Christmas movies will be shown from approximately 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the pergola area of the park. The traditional hayrides, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, coffee, and popcorn will be available (Free of charge) courtesy of downtown businesses.

Back again this year will be London Road Neighbourhood Association (LNRA) who will be on hand to sell hot dogs, hamburgers and to take donations for the Lethbridge Shelter & Resource Centre Soup Kitchen.

Midnight Madness will also be taking place in conjunction with the Bright Lights Festival. Participating businesses will be providing Midnight Madness Special and keeping their doors open late into the evening. We encourage Christmas shoppers to keep their holiday spending dollars within our community, by shopping local this holiday season.

This years Bright Lights Festival will have a new addition of the yarned-variety as the Chinook High School Fashion Studies students and staff, CASA Textile Surface Design Guild, Lethbridge Senior Center Knitting Club, Crossings Library Knitting Club, Lethbridge College - Fashion Design and  Sustainable Production, The Chain Gang – will be organizing an exciting project to transform the Galt Gardens into a large scale public textile arts work display. Knitters, crocheters, stitchers and fabric artists are going to create an array of yarn bombing trees, lamp posts, street lights, meters and benches in Galt Gardens. Yarn bombing is a type of street art that uses colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.

The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge is pleased to present the Christmas at Casa - Arts Market on Friday, November 21 from 5pm-9pm and Saturday, November 22 from 10 am to 5 pm.   This is the second annual Christmas sale, featuring a wide range of artists and arts groups with over 50 unique local artists.

This is the perfect chance to purchase local handmade art, enjoy demonstrations and performances by local arts groups.  Many arts disciplines will be featured, including:  pottery, sculpture, paintings, photography, jewelry, textiles and more.

The main branch of the Lethbridge Public Library will be hosting their very own Christmas Lights Open House from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You can celebrate Christmas at the Lethbridge Public Library Main Branch by viewing their outdoor Christmas lights while sipping hot beverages, eating cookies, and listening to a team of Christmas carolers.
